Infrared (IR) is a type of electromagnetic radiation similar to the rays of the sun. Infrared radiation is felt as heat and is given off by all objects. If our body is warmer than surrounding objects, it gives up more radiant heat than it receives from the surroundings, and we will feel cool or cold. If nearby objects are warmer, such as a heat lamp or space heater, we receive more radiant heat on that side of our body than the body gives off, and we will feel warm on that side.
Infrared Radiant Heating systems are designed on the same principle and these replicate the warmth received to the human body due to the morning Sun.
It is a unique system which does not affect the prevailing oxygen level in the habitat as also because of its specific mode of operation, it needs to run only for 5-6 hours in an enclosed and thermally insulated space to maintain an ideal ambient temperature.
Because of the inherent properties of Infra-Red heating, it also achieves deodorization, sanitization or killing - Microbial / Virus and ensures improvement of the micro-climate of the working space (home, hospital, office premises, tents).
IRHS does not burn /consume oxygen in the living space; a feature which is specifically significant for regions like Ladakh with low oxygen levels.
This kind of heating system can be utilized for several applications in agro-sector like maintaining optimum temperature in Green Houses, Poultry farming, Goat/Sheep farming, as a fruit dryer (for apple, apricot etc).

The Infra-red Radiant Heating Systems have been successfully tested and audited for their performance at Srinagar, Kargil, Leh as well as Chang La Pass (at a height of 17, 590 feet); The system has been extremely successful on all parameters. IRHS has also been evaluated at the MSME Testing Centre, New Delhi; and accreditation has been accorded.
The system is duly listed on the Govt E-Market portal (GeM portal) and is available to be offered to all government and defense (to include Army as well as Para Military Forces) organizations’/establishments.
